We have a vision of a greener, fairer Eilean Siar where:
Islanders are represented on CalMac's Board and other public bodies, to provide vital lived experience in decision making and service provision.
Local Air Traffic Control continues to operate in the Highlands & Islands and the status of Benbecula Airport is maintained.
Local people have affordable, warm homes, including good quality homes to rent
Active travel and public transport options allow us to move around easily and without damaging the environment, including free travel for U22’s on our ferry network. Ferries are islanders' buses!
Policies and projects within Eilean Siar address the climate crisis, provide good jobs and create a people-centred just transition to the new economy
Our waste and recycling are no longer piling up here or being shipped abroad, but have become a resource for the new circular economy
Everyone can get what they need, where they want it, in our communities, wherever they may be.
Read more about our vision and how we aim to achieve it in our manifesto.
Greens in Government have won Green policies and investments that not only will happen but are already happening, such as free bus travel for the Under 22’s.
If we can achieve these life-changing policies with seven MSPs at Holyrood, think what more we could do at a local level!
Green councillors in the Western Isles will work to make sure policies are delivered locally where needed most, such as free ferry travel for Under 22’s - ferries are our buses!
We will work with all councillors for people and the planet, putting people before party politics.
Our candidates are your neighbours across the Highlands and Islands - people who are passionate about making a greener, fairer world, and delivering change for all our communities.
We want to hear what you believe are the most important issues we face. Whether it is the impact of tourism, schools, public transport, housing, or something else entirely, tell us here, or contact your local candidate.
